This explains why our Shar Pei/Dobbie mix is so scared of everything. He spent his early years living in my daughters apartment and never really got to socialize with people or pets outside of her close friends and his best bud (miniature poodle).

A friend recently rescued a female Border Collie from a breeder in Texas. I should say puppy mill in Texas.  This dog has never been out of a cage. Never stepped her feet on grass.  Her ears are so infected that they have closed up and she is completely deaf. She has been used as a breeding machine.  It is a heart-breaking reminder of what greed can do and how innocent animals suffer at our hands.  While we are thinking of socializing puppies I would like to add that the shelters are filled to over flowing with dogs for adoption, including puppies.  Please, please let us work together to end the puppy mill business in this country!

This is a wonderful explanation of why it is so important to socialize puppies!  As an AKC Breeder of Merit, we realize how important this is to the future of our lab puppies.  That is why we do Early Neurological Stimulation exercises, have a Puppy "Enrichment" play area, and have our puppies meet lots of new people before they go to their new homes.  We love to hear feedback from our new puppy families that their puppies adapt so quickly to their new environment.  Thanks for the great video! - Janet & Bill, Whispering Pines Farm, WV.
