This month, we’d like to highlight another financial award given by the Dr. Jane
HealthyPetNet Foundation, this time to Angela's Angels Cat Rescue, a
donor-supported, non-profit, no-kill, cage-free cat rescue in Columbia, North
Carolina. What began as a personal experience caring for and rescuing sickly and
abandoned cats, quickly became the established rescue organization we honor
here.
A small, tightly knit organization, their focus is on saving felines from
euthanasia at high-kill shelters, while also taking in stray, abandoned and
surrendered cats. They actively work to maintain relationships with other
no-kill rescues, shelters and vets in the surrounding area, thus creating a
strong network of caring individuals working in tandem to save as many cats as
possible, placing them in loving, permanent homes. The majority of their rescues
are in temporary foster care, although some of their adoptable cats currently
reside in the cage-free “Cat House” on the founders’ property.
For many felines classified by some as “unadoptable”, this all-volunteer group
represents their only chance of emerging from shelters alive. Angela’s Angels
feels that most of these neglected cats are amenable to adoption, given some
patience and loving care. This rescue makes a lifetime commitment to every
single one of their rescued cats … that they will always be welcome to return,
for any reason, at any time during the cat’s lifetime, a commitment that’s
featured in their adoption contract. All potential adopters are carefully
screened and must guarantee that their new pet kids will live out their days as
indoor creatures.
According to the group, thousands of healthy and adoptable cats are euthanized
in North Carolina shelters every year. Aware of research showing that feline
companionship actually improves senior citizen health, they implemented the
"Cats for Seniors" program. Any senior citizens with an approved adoption
application and home visit can adopt any adult cat at Angela's Angels Cat Rescue
absolutely free of charge.
The funds supplied by Dr. Jane’s HealthyPetNet Foundation will go towards the
purchase of a new building, in order to house special-needs cats with
disabilities who require daily medications, prescription diets and daily medical
care. The new facility will include an area dedicated to fiv/felv positive cats,
as well as an area for feral cats.
All of us here at Life’s Abundance salute this group for their remarkable
strides in creating better lives not only for cats but their fellow North
Carolinians, too.
If you would like to provide additional financial support to our foundation, you
may do so when placing an order online or by sending a check or money order to
the Dr. Jane’s HealthyPetNet Foundation, Inc. at P.O. Box 1425, Palm City, FL
34991. Even if you can only spare a dollar or two, you’ll be providing
much-needed aid to organizations just like Angela’s Angels Cat Rescue who work
every day to reverse the trend of animal homelessness in America.
Most especially, we are thankful to all of our readers and customers who,
through their personal donations and continued patronage, make all of our grants
possible. Your compassion and generosity has helped to bolster this committed
network of volunteers’ efforts to make the world a better place for abandoned,
abused and neglected cats.
